CoNew.in Subdomain or Your Own Domain: A Guide for Indian Businesses

Your website or app needs an address customers can recognise and share. For an Indian business, two possible approaches are a platform subdomain such as yourname.conew.in and a separately registered domain for your brand. Which should you choose?

Start with your stage of business and your launch plans. A test project has different priorities from an established brand running a public campaign. If you are still shaping the product, read our business app launch guide first.

Understand the address and hosting separately

A subdomain sits within another domain: yourname is part of the conew.in address. A dedicated domain, such as yourbrand.in or yourbrand.com, is registered separately through a domain provider. These are illustrative names, not confirmed available addresses.

Hosting runs the app or website. A domain gives people an address to reach it. Compare the hosting, backups, support, and access you receive alongside the address; a domain choice alone does not determine those services.

When a CoNew.in subdomain can be a practical start

A subdomain may suit an early business idea, a small community project, or a new service you want to test before settling on a long-term brand. For example, a tutor exploring online demo-class enquiries may prefer to validate the process before commissioning a larger website.

CoNew’s current hosting listing states that a .conew.in subdomain is free when taken with a paid service. The listed hosting price is ₹2,000 per year. The address offer does not mean development or hosting is free. Ask which paid services qualify, what the hosting includes, and the conditions for keeping the address.

Check your preferred name with the team before printing it or promoting it. Entering it in the project form begins an enquiry; availability is confirmed separately and the form does not reserve the name.

When your own domain may suit your business

A dedicated domain may be a better fit when your brand name is settled and you want an address to use consistently on packaging, visiting cards, social profiles, and campaigns. You can discuss a .in, .com, or another suitable extension without assuming the extension alone will attract customers.

Compare registration and renewal charges in INR, and check what the provider includes. Ask about any separate email or other service charges. Confirm that the app can use your chosen domain and what configuration work is included in the development or hosting proposal.

For an established business, agree who manages the registration account, receives renewal reminders, and can change address settings. Keep the contact details current and document the access arrangements.

What to compare before saying yes

Cost: Compare the same period for both options, including setup, hosting, renewals, maintenance, and paid integrations. Ask about applicable taxes and any usage-based charges.

Brand: Decide whether you are testing a name or building a lasting identity. Choose an address that your intended customers can read, spell, and share easily.

Control: Ask who manages the parent domain or registration account, hosting, backups, and app data. The address itself does not establish ownership of the code or content.

Support: Confirm who responds when the website is unavailable, how routine changes are requested, and which work is included or charged separately.

Plan a future move before launch

If you might move from a CoNew subdomain to your own domain, explain that during the first discussion. Ask whether the app and its data can be moved, what access is required, and what the migration would cost. Do not assume every project can change its address without additional work.

The move may require changes to sign-in settings, payment callbacks, email links, and other integrations. Ask who will test those journeys and tell existing customers about the new address.

For public pages already appearing in search, old URLs also need a transition plan. Google’s site-move guidance recommends mapping old pages to their new locations and setting up redirects. Confirm whether the old subdomain can remain available for that purpose and for how long.

Choose around your next step

Testing a new idea? Discuss a CoNew subdomain and a focused first version. Confirm the paid-service conditions, hosting scope, and exit arrangements.

Launching a settled brand? Discuss a dedicated domain together with the hosting and support plan. Include registration access and renewals in your responsibilities checklist.

Not sure yet? Request both options in one proposal. Compare the total cost, included services, control, and future migration work rather than choosing only by the first advertised price.
